Christmas came early at the VOLUSPA Headquarters, the 1st of December to be exact. It was the day of our Company party and the highlight, Eighties cover band Flashback Heart Attack, rocked all night long.
Inspired by the Winter Wonderland we made for the event, I began dreaming up how I wanted to decorate our Park City home this Holiday Season.
When we first purchased our get-away, we wanted the overall vibe to be sleek and modern with warm touchable-not-precious accents. Our Interior Designer Beth Ann Shepherded knocked this out of the park. She created my dream space that was open and versatile. Low back seating and over sized ottomans allow the entire space to flow and the stunning views to be seen from every seat in the house! Her flawless execution of our vision not only landed the cover of Utah Style & Design, but it has also made it easy to spruce up during the Holidays.
With that said, I thought I’d share my Holiday checklist to help you create some magic in your space and also discover a few of my favorite things about Park City this time of year.
You absolutely can’t begin any Holiday related activity, especially decorating, without Holiday music on full volume. A good playlist gets you singing and dancing, so we’ve done the legwork and complied everyone at VOLUSPA's favorite Holiday tunes into a Spotify Playlist for your enjoyment!
The next item on my list is greenery. Not only do I love the scent of fresh evergreens like Silver Cypress, Pine, Fraser Fir, Cedar, and Blue Spruce, but also their luscious appearance adds instant ambiance to our chalet. These trimmings are a perfect addition to mantels and table decor. Aside from the tree, these cuttings are an absolute must!
Obviously candles are on my list ;) Best piece of advice - CLUSTERS ARE KEY. There is something so magical about grouped candles. Maybe it’s the collective glow, or the eye-catching effect they have when they are stacked together…I just love it! I create these clusters by mixing formats and placing the groups throughout different areas in my home like the dining room table or smack in the center of our living room on a mirrored tray. Their glow makes me want to cozy up with my girls by the fire.
When we need a break from our decorating, we head straight to Main Street. With candy apples and homemade fudge at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in hand, Main Street is the hub of Park City that keeps our bellies full and my girls entertained for hours. Stop by Handle or No Name Saloon for dinner or drinks. We even recreated the No Name Saloon in our home, that’s Park City love.
While we are out and about in town, I’ll pick up a few bundles of flowers for the house. I like to keep it simple and very chic by picking one flower and sticking to it. It’s no fuss and I pop them into my empty VOLUSPA containers. So easy, we even did this for our company party and again for a Holiday catalog shoot.
On days we hit the mountain, my favorite spot for Après Ski is St. Regis in Deer Crest. It’s ideally situated and never disappoints. The ambiance is lux relaxation and the perfect place to wrap up a long day. We always stop by Stein Erickson’s old school lodge and on this trip they had a GIANT Gingerbread display.
Park City has a special place in my heart, especially this time of year with all the Holiday touches sprinkled throughout our home. Spending time decorating the house with my girls and lounging around the fire always makes for the best vacation. I hope that my checklist adds a little magic to your home and your Holiday the same way it does mine.
That about wraps it up. Speaking of which, I need to finish wrapping up some goodies for the girls!
